As part of our growth we are seeking a high calibre Design Lead with exceptional design skills, strong design principles and leadership qualities. Reporting to the Head of Design, this role will shape the quality of our product experiences and develop our design practice.


The Opportunity

At Lendi we have been developing a design system (LUI) that is unified, inclusive and resilient to change. Over the past year we have been scaling our design system capabilities to help our product teams deliver with efficiency and quality. This role will be leading the ongoing management and evolution of our Design System and CMS, supporting product teams to build consistent, accessible and delightful experiences. 

As a Design Lead your role will comprise of strategy and end to end delivery. You will advocate and champion LUI, shape our design practices and contribute to the success of product objectives. We are looking for a highly organised and detailed oriented designer who has strong UI and interaction design skills. This role will have 2 - 3 direct reports. 


What you’ll do

  • Lead product design end to end across multiple cross functional teams; Scope, plan and execute design activities through discovery, research, iteration and delivery
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale 
  • Establish best practices, guidelines and components that fit the needs of consuming teams and products.
  • Work with a cross functional teams of Design, Engineering, Product to deliver the end to end development and adoption of Lendi’s Design System
  • Facilitate feedback, discussion and collaboration with multiple cross functional teams and stakeholders
  • Work in collaboration with front-end engineers will build accessible, consistent, and reusable components 
  • Provide governance to support UI and brand consistency across product teams
  • Manage shared Figma library between UI and Product Designers
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency across and optimisation of the design & development workflow
  • Onboard & mentor new teammates to design system, workflows and processes
  • Coach, mentor and provide feedback to product designers 
  • Help evangelize the adoption of Lendi’s design system, design principles and customer centric design process
  • Build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships with Product, Engineering and Marketing


What we’re looking for

  • Experience in UX, visual design and interaction design
  • Systems Design experience
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Experience with people management
  • Proficiency in Figma component libraries and prototyping
  • Experience in the creating and adoption of design systems
  • Understanding of user centered design, inclusive design principles and experience designing to meet WCAG guidelines along with iOS and Android operating system accessibility features
  • Experience working closely with engineers
  • Basic knowledge of html and CMS - would be helpful when collaborating with engineers 
  • Ability to effectively plan, manage time and priorities tasks
  • A portfolio that showcases your craft and your contributions to shipped projects
